Plastic kits are available for small sheds, and they are very durable. However, they are not customizable and are limited in size and style. Wood sheds need more maintenance than plastic sheds, but you can endlessly customize them with size, color, trim, and siding and roofing choices.
After the fad of vinyl siding wore off, back came the wooden storage sheds in a much more classy look that mimics vinyl siding in the exterior look…with just a bit more uppity look and technology. As mentioned, these LP SmartSide products are designed to stand the test of time.
Electrical work is of more concern due to the risk involved. This is especially true if you’ll be installing a circuit or two in the electrical panel dedicated to the shed. It’s not uncommon to DIY a shed and hire an electrician to wire it.

This narrow shed from HowToSpecialist also made the list, because it look fabulous. This stores firewood and also has a separate area for the small twigs. In addition, this wood shed features a gable roof to protect the logs from the elements. I love the simplicity of the design, but don’t be fooled because it will surprise you by how sturdy it is. If you have a large enough shed, you could have it completely finished, wired for electricity, and plumbing run to it to create a tiny house. Because most of the costs are in the finishing, this would not be an inexpensive project unless you intend to do it yourself over time. Finishing costs will run around $125 a square foot, plus insulation, running the plumbing and electrical lines, and other interior finishing add even more costs, for a total of up to $250 a square foot. This assumes that you do not add square footage onto the shed because most sheds are only a single room and are not divided into kitchen, sleeping, and bathing areas. These houses are not legal to live in unless they are permitted and inspected, however. Get Local Cost
